I received a very odd email today. It was from the daughter of Gregory W.
Nikolai '76, who had been put up for adoption! She was looking for
pictures of her birth father, Greg. I dug through the yearbooks and he
didn't have a senior portrait in the '76 yearbook, just one candid
picture, so I went back to the '75 yearbook and found his junior picture.
I scanned all these and sent them to her (Sarah). In her email she also
stated that Greg Nikolai had passed away several years ago. I thought that
odd since I had an address for him in WI. I did a little digging and
discovered that Sarah was correct, Gregory W. Nikolai passed away on
August 26, 2008. I could not find an obituary in the Daily Herald. Greg
has a younger brother David Nikolai '78, but '78 is a couple years outside
my 'sphere of influence'. If anyone has any other pictures of Greg or
contact information for his brother David, please send it to me so I can
put Sarah in touch with her uncle. -Thanks!
