I'm sorry to have to pass along yet another passing of a WHS alumni. This time from the class of 1976. Michael Terrance 'Terry' Niyork passed away July 29, 2018.

Today our VFW has lost a truly amazing, one of a kind man. "Mr. Terry", "Cowboy Terry", "Ponytail Terry" became "The Face of the Post". Our Veterans, or as he would say while touching his chest "MY Veterans" were his heart and everything he did was for them and to make sure that future generations understood the sacrifice that our Veterans made. He touched so many lives and made an impact on everyone he met and especially anyone who ever stepped foot in the Villa Park VFW. His loss is immeasurable and will forever leave us with a hole in our hearts. RIP Terry. You are loved more than you will ever know. 

Memorial for Terry Niyork will be Sunday, August 5th, 11am - 6pm. His family and his VFW family would like to invite everyone to stop in and share your stories and spend time remembering the man who made an impression on everyone he met and who will live on in our hearts forever.

Here is Terry's obituary from the newspaper posted today 08/02/2018:

"Michael “Terry” Niyork age 60 formerly of Villa Park, IL passed away on July 29, 2018. Loving father of Shawn and Patrick Niyork. Dear son of Sue Kruk and the late Harold and Helen Niyork. Fond brother of Harold J. Niyork, Ed Kruk, George Kruk, the late Colleen Nelson, Michael Kruk and Judy Gentile.

Memorial Visitation on Sunday August 5, 2018 at Villa Park VFW Post # 2801 39 E. St. Charles Road, Villa Park, IL from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

02/06/2018 John Edward Thalhammer A much belated, sad discovery, John Edward Thalhammer passed away on 09/19/2015 from lung cancer.  He had been living in Park Ridge.
01/01/2018   Happy New Year!  There are still 87 Members of the Class of 1976 missing.
