I'm sorry to ruin everyone's holidays
with this sad news. Paul L. Groot passed away on Christmas Eve,

Paul L. Groot, 68, of Buffalo Grove,
IL, passed away on December 24, 2024. Born on February 1, 1956, in
Chicago, IL, Paul was the cherished son of Howard and Patricia (Steinman)
Groot. He grew up in a close-knit family, surrounded by his eight
siblings, with whom he shared a deep bond throughout his life. |

William "Bill" Ims passed away on December 20th 2024.

William "Bill" Ims, 68, of Fox River Grove passed away
on December 20, 2024. He was preceded in death by his
beloved wife, Barbara (nee Stryszyk) of 46 years. Bill
is survived by his devoted children Kelly (Gabriel)
Stoia, Chris (Stacy) Ims, Matt Ims, and Mike (Alli)
Ims. Some of his fondest memories include spending
time with his grandchildren Nicholas, Nathan, Nolan,
and Cora, niece, Jaimie, and nephew, Jason. He also
enjoyed fishing trips with his brother Steve (Darlene)
Ims and traveling to multiple beach destinations
around the world with colleagues and friends.
A lifelong professional in the roofing industry, Bill
dedicated 52 years to the field, beginning his career
at Brown and Kerr in Wheeling, then moving on to
Complete Building Maintenance, and recently retiring
from Local Roofing Co., Inc. just this month.
If he wasn't at work or traveling you would likely
find him on his boat, taking an evening cruise with
Barb, or entertaining friends and family while
listening to Jimmy Buffet. He also spent significant
time rooting for the Bears and Cubs.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January
5th, from 12:00-4:00 PM at Kelly's house in
Schaumburg. Friends and family are invited to stop by
anytime during these hours to honor Bill's memory.

I'm sorry to have to report another '74
classmate was discovered to have passed way a decade ago. David Baublitz
passed away on January 14th 2014. No other details are available. David's
older sister Kathryn is a '72 WHS grad. Rest in peace David. |

sadly uncovered another '74 classmate who has passed away. Nelson Rojas
passed away on January 11th, 2022. This was reported by his son Nelson
Rojas, Jr.

I have some sad news to convey to the Class of 1974. Lynn Pattison passed
away on March 7, 2024.
Lynn Ann Pattison March 27, 1956 – March 7, 2024 Lynn Ann Pattison, 67, of Round Lake, IL, previously of Wheeling, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024. Lynn was born on March 27, 1956. She graduated from Wheeling High School in 1974, attended The University of Illinois and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. She secured her Master of Arts in Teaching from National-Louis University in 1997. She was pursuing a second master’s degree in US History while battling cancer. Prior to her career as an educator, Lynn’s first calling was as a journalist. Starting her career in 1978, she became an award-winning reporter for the Barrington Press group of weekly newspapers, covering several communities in Lake County including Lake Zurich and Wauconda. She then moved to Decatur Illinois to serve as a writer for the Decatur Herald and Review. Later, she returned to Barrington Press to cover education in the Northwest suburbs. She was later promoted to editor where she oversaw the company’s three business publications. After the Barrington Press was acquired by the Wilmette-based Pioneer Press, the company called on Lynn to assume the editorship of the flagship Evanston Review. Lynn was an incredibly dedicated middle school teacher, an educator whose caring soul and devotion to her students touched the lives and hearts of all. Inclusive of the parents whose respect and admiration she earned. Her “kids”, whole, were her passion in life. Lynn was also an avid Beatles fan. Lynn's Memorial/Celebration of Life. The class of 1974 has to regrettably say
good-bye to another classmate. Carol M. Carpenter passed
away on January 15, 2024. I have no other details regarding funeral or
celebration of life at this time. Carol had a few other siblings that
graduated from WHS. Rest in Peace Carol. |
