Shortly after my return from Viet Nam. Carol died in Greensboro, NC on November 17, 1998 of Cancer. Patti Peck (Arlington High School Class of 1972) & I married 12-7-1974. Found Elaine Stungis Symanski. Elaine and her husband Mike are living in Overland Park, KS, Elaine shared this, "After seeing the banner ads for Classmates.com for months, I finally clicked and was amazed to see all of the WHS '66 classmates who had registered. I attended only one WHS reunion - our 10th - and I have not done a good job of keeping in touch. I have been married to Mike for 31 years. We met our freshman year at the University of Illinois. We have two children - Adam, 23, and Julia, 17. My WHS years mostly revolved around yearbook "The Lair" and I would love to find out what happened to the rest of the staff. As seniors, we gave our advisor, Mrs. Penny Hirsch, a very difficult time. I remember that she gave us detention for an entire week for displaying gross disrespect for the WHS faculty in general. We deserved it! My WHS experience inspired a lifetime love of writing, however, and I still am employed as a journalist. I switched from print to online about a year ago. Update from Susan Harlin Cozzitarto. Susan and her husband Pete are in temporary housing in Ontario, CA. Susan wanted to share this, "Greetings Fellow Alumni. How time (35 years) flies when you are having fun. As most of the other alumni, my life has been filled with change, happiness & sadness, and growth. Married for thirty-two years to Pete, we moved to CA in 1975 with two small children, ages five and three. Denise, our daughter, is married and an elementary school teacher who just had her first baby (we are proud grandparents too!); our son, Pete, is single and a Probation Officer for Orange County and just moved into his own condo. Our kids consider themselves 'native' Californians... and we had to teach them that you do not pronounce the 's' in Illinois. Life has been interesting, challenging and ever-changing. Pete and I have recently sold our home in Chino Hills and are now waiting for a new home to be finished this November in Corona. We are back to apartment living until then, like the days when we were first married--life does go in full circles, I guess. Our grandchild has opened up a part of our hearts that we never knew existed and we are loving every minute of it. Pete is a Purchasing Manager for an aerospace firm and I am an Assist. Dir. of Human Resources at Claremont McKenna College (CMC). The Claremont Colleges (5 undergraduate, 2 graduate) are modeled after the Ivy League schools on the east coast--send your kids to CMC, it's the best. I will be attending the reunion in October, but I won't have the platinum blonde hair as in my HS pic...look for silver. Hope many of you are able to attend...greasers & rah-rahs alike. Just kidding of course, as Ms. Arendt would tell me, 'Harlin, I'm going to have trouble with you I can tell." | |

Found Marion Weiss Stetter through Classmates.com. Marion wasn't on the missing list. Here is what Marion offered up about her life since high school, "I am an accountant that has worked for the same company for 31 years. I try to do as little accounting as possible. Mostly I work on the accounting systems. I was married in 1974. I had my daughter Sarah in 1976 and my son Jonathan in 1979. My husband died of cancer in 1983. I remarried in 1994 to my husband Jim. Both of my "children" are engaged. Sarah is working on her Masters in psychology. Jonathan is a junior working on his BS in mechanical engineering. There isn't much to say, except that I enjoy gardening, reading and biking. I no longer drive my own bike, but have come to enjoy being a passenger again. Both my husband and son enjoy biking also. I'm the only gardener in the family. When I plant new bushes everyone pitches in and helps dig the holes for me. Last year we moved in to our new house that we built. This has given me plenty of things to do in the house and in the yard. I'm not sure what else you would like to know about me. I still attend church, volunteer to help adolescents, and all of the other normal things." | |

However it really bothered me so I went back to school and graduated twenty years later in 1986. I will always consider myself a class of 1966 Alumni. I decided to change the handling of those on the PENDING list. To be moved from the Lost List to the PENDING list, I had to have found an alumni's listing on Classmates.com, or Alumni.net, or Highschoolalumni.com, or have been given contact information from another source. I would put PENDING as their address and that would take them off the MISSING list. However I found that many people didn't respond to e-mails sent to them from Classmates.com or other sources, so I've decided to implement a new rule of thumb. I will keep names in the PENDING list for 3 months. If they do not respond in that time, their PENDING status will be removed and they will go back on the missing list. I don't want to be misleading with the number of people who are found. I will publish a separate table of those on the PENDING list on the same page as the Missing List from now on. |
