Update from Jan Carne Love: "What has happened since High School? I had such a great time visiting with the attendees of the Reunion “Icebreaker” on Friday night. I was sorry I could not attend the Saturday affair. I especially enjoyed sharing memories with my Class of ’66 good friends Pam Ashe Gnuglek and Lynn Robey and my grade school mates Janine Ratcliffe, Steve Zasadny and Doug Glaser. I had wished we had more time to chat and catch up on the years since high school, so thought I would share a bit of my life for anyone interested in reading. I am getting a bit more reflective lately, as retirement thoughts are looming. I am a bit jealous of those of you have figured this out already.

My folks still live the same house I grew up in at 208 W. Kenilworth, Prospect Heights. I am lucky to still have them as part of my life.

I graduated from Western Illinois University with a BS in Mathematics, and lived in the Chicago area until ‘82. I worked for Morton Salt Company, downtown Chicago, before I left. I was active in one of the area ski clubs and enjoyed skiing and other year-round activities with my ski club friends. I was also a bartender at Ye Olde Town Inn in Mt Prospect, part-time.

I met my first husband at work at Morton Salt in Chicago. We moved to the Ft Lauderdale, Florida area, were married and I started working for IBM. I loved Florida. We dropped skiing for scuba diving and bought a boat to
enjoy it every weekend. I survived the divorce 6 years later, but I learned from it. I truly believe 'everything happens for a reason'. IBM has been good to me and also teamed me up with my then good friend and co-worker, Doug. Doug and I bought a house on the water, a boat, were married, and are still best friends. We survived Hurricane Andrew in ’93, evacuating our house and all our stuff. It makes you realize how important life is over “stuff”. We still enjoy the ocean, both diving and sailing.  After 14 years in Florida, IBM moved us to Austin, Texas, home of Lance Armstrong and Willie Nelson. We miss the ocean, but IBM needed us on the projects we were on so we moved. Austin is a great city, the best in Texas, in my opinion. We live in Hill Country, which has rolling hills, canyons, and 2 lakes through the middle of town that are really the Colorado River. We have a close friend that works at a radio station and several musician friends, which allow us to see music somewhere every week. We even went to Willie Nelson’s 4th of July picnic this year. And of course routed for Lance again this year. I have now been at IBM for 20 years. At IBM, I manage teams of Software Engineers developing applications and operating systems and I do a lot of mentoring. One of my current projects involves another team in Rome, which has good travel benefits. Jazzercise and yoga keep me sane when work gets crazy. We are in Texas for 7 years now, but did not think I have a Texan accent. Guess some of y’all thought I did. Folks here think I have a Chicago accent, so it must be your perspective. I miss the Chicago summers, but not the winters. So that is my recap of 37 years. How about yours?

Thanks to all the people who planned the reunion and made it possible to see old friends from the past, and to Gary for creating and maintaining the website. It was GREAT!"

The first combined All 60's Classes Reunion was held this weekend.  All the classes, '66, '67, '68, and '69 enjoyed a whole weekend of fun and remembrances. Friday night we gathered at the 94th Aero Squadron Restaurant & Bar for an informal getting re-acquainted event.  Saturday morning several people got together for a golf outing, with Coach Daletski in attendance.  Saturday night we had a more of a formal reunion dinner at Chevy Chase with Dr. Tom Shirley providing the invocation.  Sunday was a picnic at Dam #1 for the Bombers 2nd Annual Scholarship Bash.  Pictures are on line now!

07/10/2003 New address for Marjorie Steward Erdman.  Marjorie now lives in Elgin, IL
05/15/2003 Susan Hovey Susan Hovey turned herself in today.  Susan is living in St. Louis, MO.  This is what Susan wanted to share, "Funny how I really don't feel as if it has been soooo long since my senior year at Wheeling. I have been so blessed in my life. Travels all over the world, great friends and family and a successful career. My family owned and operated an airline catering company for 30 years. Back when the food looked, smelled and tasted good. Never did we prepare the nasty stuff you get now, if you get anything at all. Still working and doubt if I ever stop. For those of you who may remember me please feel free to send a note anytime. I have been looking for Margaret Rudolph from the class of 67. If any of you know where she is please drop me a note at my email address."
