Ken Steffen passed away at NW Community Hospital
in Arlington Heights. Ken had been ill since early November.
Ken has a younger sister Linda Steffen Murrelle who graduated from WHS
in 1973. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Klosak Funeral
Home in Wheeling. That's all the details I have.

Rest In Peace Ken |

I just received the sad news that Sherry
Cunningham Cermak passed away on Sunday (07/20/2008) from a
heart attack. Here is the information I received from her
classmate/husband Bob
Cermak (through Char Winfrey Buckley '66).
To all: I think most of you have heard the tragic
news. Sherry died of a heart attack on Sunday. Below is the obituary
that will be running in the Davis Enterprise. Sherry was fortunate
to have so many wonderful and loving friends and family. I can not
express how much she will be missed. Please forward to others you
think would want to know. I apologize for sending from Sherry's
email account, but that was the only way to access her address book.
You can contact me at robert_cermak@yahoo.com.
Bob Cermak ‘66 (Sherry's husband)
Sherry was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, grew up in Illinois, and
made Davis, California her home for the past 28 years. She died of a
sudden heart attack on July 20, 2008.
Sherry graduated with High Honors from UC Davis in 1985, and from
UCD's School of Law in 1988. After a brief career as an Attorney,
Sherry found her true calling as a licensed wildlife rehabilitator
and blogger. Her blog "What Did You Eat?" is a popular site with
wonderful recipes and photographs of food she has creatively
prepared. The weekend postings are updates on the life of her cats
and rescued wildlife.
Sherry was cherished and loved by her family and many friends. She
will be greatly missed.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 37 years, Bob Cermak; brother
Frank Cunningham III, and several loving cousins, aunts and uncles,
and her mother-in-law Margaret (Bunty) Cermak.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26 at 10 a.m. at
Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Rd., with a
reception to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in
Sherry's name to the Wildlife Care Association
(www.wildlifecareassociation.net).
Those who wish to sign a guestbook online may do so at
www.wiscombefuneral.com.

News from James
Rainer
Patti and I
are happily married for 39 years now, both of us are retired
(picture is from our recent trip to Mexico) and our twin sons
are married and doing well. Now 38 years old (I know that seems
impossible) our sons, their wives and Patti and I are all
actively involved in our ministry as Jehovah's Witnesses. Jeff
and his wife Wendy are now serving in the Sheboygan Spanish
Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Joe
and Diane are serving in the Hartford Congregation of Jehovah's
Witnesses in Hartford, Wisconsin but will soon be going to serve
in a Spanish Congregation in Pewaukee Wisconsin. Patti and I are
in the Port Washington Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses where
we both are full time ministers representing the Watchtower
Bible and Tract Society. I also have the privilege of giving
Bible based talks at the local, state, and national level. No
grandchildren as of yet. As I often have said, however, we are
healthy, wealthy, and wise--two out of three isn't bad. Which
two I will leave up to my former classmates. Hi and love to all
of you. |
