10/04/2018 I just received word from Denise E. Sherman Rund's husband, Ed, that Denise passed away after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer on August 29th, 2018

10/02/2018 Clifford 'Ed' Shasteen passed away on October 2, 2018. I received this information while I was enroute back for homecoming. Ed was living in Crystal Lake and I believe he was a retired Arlington Heights Police Officer. Ed's younger sister Karen Shasteen Kimball is a Class of 1969 alumni.

Tomas D. Bostrom, passed away on August 18, 2016 from cancer. Tom's younger brother Jim was a 1969 Graduate. Tom also has two other siblings that I know of John Bostrom and Christine Bostrom, neither of whom graduated from WHS.

"Renowned Ojai landscape architect Tomas Bostrom succumbed to cancer on August 18, leaving behind a lasting legacy including Cluff Vista Park, the reforestation of the valley by the group he founded, Ojai Trees, the Welcome to Ojai sign, Rotary Park at the west entrance to the valley, the bridge that joins Libbey Park to the Art Center, the rebuilding of the Ojai Avenue pergola, and landscape designs at Thacher School, Ojai Valley School, and the Ojai Valley Inn."

06/18/2018 Constance L Bailey Skogland passed away over a decade ago on October 6, 2006 and this sad news is just coming to light. Constance had been living in Rockford, IL.

The reunion committee found another classmate who unfortunately passed away a couple of years ago. Michael A. Bain passed away on July 28, 2016 in Gunnison, CO.

Michael's younger sister Laurie Bain Rosenfeld is a 1969 graduate. His next younger sister Melinda Bain Peterson is a 1973 WHS grad. Michael's youngest sister Margaret Bain is a class of 1979 graduate of WHS.

06/16/2018 Sadly another '68 alumni was discovered to have passed away. Alexs M. Brown passed away in June of 2015. This was reported by her older sister Theresa Burns '67.

The 50^th Reunion search committee unfortunately found another classmate who had passed away. Terry Toerpe passed away on March, 11, 2017 from MERSA. Terry was in the hospital for 7 months prior to his death. At the time of his death Terry was living on Cottonwood, CA.

Here is the brief obituary I found through Legacy.com:
“Terry was born July 2, 1951, and went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2017. A service will be held at the Igo/Ono Veterans Cemetery on March 23, 2017, at 9:30am. Please sign the guest book at http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/redding/”

Terry had two younger sisters that I know of that attended WHS. Patricia Toerpe Barnes ’72 or Spring Grove, IL, and Cher Toerpe Tomlinson ’74 of Jefferson Colorado.

To the best of my ability to research, Terry didn’t actually graduate with the class. I don’t know if he dropped out or went to Viet Nam or what. He had no senior picture and no junior year picture in the ’67 yearbook.

Terry’s wife Susan grew up in Des Plaines.

06/04/2018 Another late passing discovery through the search efforts of the 50th Reunion committee. Shawn Eugene Baker passed away on 05/25/2015. His obituary follows:

Mr. Shawn Eugene Baker, 65 of San Fransisco, CA passed away May 25, 2015 while on vacation in Bangkok, Thailand.

Born in Monticello, Indiana on November 30, 1949, he was a graduate of Mt.Prospect High School in Illinois and The University of Wisconsin. Mr. Baker was the owner of Zeke's Sports Bar and Grill in San Francisco and loved playing golf and enjoyed watching all sports in addition to traveling and spending time with close friends.

Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his father, James Baker, grandmother, Virginia Shumake Merrill, grandfather, Fred L. Shumake, and aunt, Eugenia Thornton.

Survivors include his mother, Theresa Baker, uncle, Freddie Shumake, aunt, Margaret Shumake and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, June 13, 2015 in the Southern Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

05/31/2018 More 50th reunion searches have uncovered that Stephen M. Provost passed away on 03/05/2017. Stephen had been living in Farmington, MO.

Sad news. Garry Lovell '68 passed away.

I received an email from Rena Sargis Lovell '67 informing me that her husband Garry Lovell '68 passed away on April 27th, 2018.

Garry graduated early so he didn't have a senior picture in either the 1967 or 1968 yearbooks, but I did scan his junior year picture from the 1967 yearbook.

I asked Rena if she had a relatively current picture of Garry, but I have yet to hear back from her.

05/01/2018 Still another '68 WHS alumni was discovered to have passed away back in 2006.
Stephen Paul Ehrenfried passed away on May 16, 2006. He had been living in Evanston. Steve has a younger sister Patti who graduated from Hersey High School in 1972. Patti is married to Class of 1969 alumni Steven Gille.

The class of 1968's 50th reunion search group has uncovered another classmate passing.

The One and Only Mr. California Cleanse, Rick Payne-BeLow passed away on June 1, 2014 from Lymphoma. Rick made this transition with his brother Don by his side. Rick was born in Chicago on March 5, 1950. Attended Northern Illinois University, and University of Illinois, Chicago, received a BA in Anthropology, founded the California Cleanse, BiosProject, wrote a book Sex Herbs Rock and Soul and left us videos on Youtube. Rick was a huge activist within the gay community and wanted to help everyone on the planet learn of the California Cleanse and live healthier lives. Rick is survived by his daughter Jennifer BeLow, his brothers Don, Jim and Steve BeLow, his sister Deb Payne, nieces, nephews and his aunt Sue. He also remained close to his ex-in-laws, Marilyn Lofthouse and Stacy Pusateri. A funeral service will take place at a private residence in San Francisco on July 6 from 12 Noon-2 p.m. at 451 Burnett Ave SF, 94131. Person to contact, Jennifer 415-613-1126. Frank H. Spontelli, Jr. passed away January 10, 2011. To the best of my knowledge he had been living in Solon, OH. This information was uncovered by the Class of 1968 50^th Reunion Committee.

Unfortunately the 50th reunion committee has been very busy, and has discovered 10 more '68 alumni who have passed away in the past.

Richard passed away on February 19, 2004. He had been living in La Salle, IL.

Patricia passed away on September 1, 1984. She had been living in Chicago (60623 zip code)

Robert passed away on June 28, 1989. He had been living in Chicago (60622 zip code)

Robin R. Meyer died on 12/12/2009. He had been living in FL. His family moved to FL during junior year so he didn’t actually graduate from WHS. He checked in back in 2007 and you can see his comments on the 2007 News page for the Class of 1968

Eric Coventry Davis passed away on July 17, 2004. No other information is available at this time.

Dale E. Breuscher died on January 02, 2008. He had been living in South Elgin, IL, 60177

Bradley B. Baxter perished on January 30, 2010. He had been living in Piatt, IL.

Kathleen Diane Jacobsen Moran, died on October 31, 2011 (Halloween). She had been living in North Barrington.

Chester LeRoy Anderson died April 5, 2007. He had been living in Buna, TX, 77612. He had no senior picture.

Jimmy D. Klatt, passed away March 29, 2007. He had no senior or junior year pictures in the yearbooks. I have no otherh

Another unfortunate find by the reunion committee. Tom, whose real name is Charles Thomas Crocker, passed away 3 days after his 59^th birthday back in 2009. He was residing in East Prairie, MO at the time of his death. Tom’s younger sister Janie Crocker Prokop is a class of 1969 WHS grad (classmate of mine) and lives in Pontiac, IL.

The 50^th reunion committee discovered that another ’68 alumni passed away a long while back. David Jon Anderson passed away on 11/05/2009. His real name was Jon David Anderson though. He had been living in Clovis, CA. The last I heard from David was 01/22/2003. David sent along a picture and comments about his life and are posted on the Class of 1968 news page for 2003:

Sadly here is another much belated discovery of a Class of 1968 alumni passing away. David Robert Simpson passed away on May 26, 2009. David was a Red Cross Volunteer. David’s older brother Phillip Simpson is a Class of 1966 alumni.

Through the search & research in advance of the Class of 1968’s 50^th reunion another classmate was discovered to have passed away a long while back. Paul David Cary was born on June 22, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on May 22, 1990 in Hillsborough, FL. Paul’s twin brother Charles L. Cary is living in North Carolina. Neither Paul or Charles had senior pictures in the yearbook.

I have no additional information at this time.

04/02/2018 Through the search efforts of the 50th reunion committee it was discovered that Lynette Olson Horne, passed away on May 27th, 2001. Lynette has a younger brother William Olson '72. William is on the missing list for the class of 1972.

03/27/2018 Through the search efforts of the 50th reunion committee it was discovered that Larry E. Lowery '68 passed away on 06/30/2011. He had been living in Schaumburg, IL. An obituary was not able to be found. Larry has a younger sister Linda Lowery Harnish '71. Rest in Peace Larry.

03/23/2018 I was just informed that Jeanne Glover Louderback '68 passed way on 04/08/2014. Her passing was uncovered as part of the 50th Reunion Committee's searches.

02/26/2018 Thru the efforts of the 50th Reunion Committes searches, it was discovered that John August Seul passed away on July 10, 2010. John had been living in Mesa, AZ at the time of his death. An obituary was not found. I have no further information. Rest in Peace John.

01/31/2018 I'm sad to report the first loss of 2018 for the class of 1968 is Rick Ganze Jr. Rick didn't graduate with his class and had no senior picture. Funeral service will be Friday Feb 2nd at ML Ford in Lake Wylie from 6 to 8 pm.
