My dad Dean R DePoy passed away this morning here in Florida. I was so blessed to be with him and share several I love you’s last night. He held my hand and told me how much he loved me and my brother Erik DePoy. My heart is broken but I know he’s in heaven today with his 2 precious dogs he loved so dearly. I love this picture, taken a few years ago, showing him so happy. I love you dad and miss you so much. I can’t believe you’re gone.

02/21/2020 Gary W. Danhof I'm sorry to bring more sad news. Gary W. Danhof '68 passed away back on August 17, 2019. This information was provided to me by Gary's ex-wife, Alison Barr '69.

Here is Gary's obituary:

CW4 (Ret) Gary W. Danhof

Gary W. Danhof, 69, of Richmond Hill, passed away peacefully on August 17, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. He was born on February 5, 1950 in East Lansing, Michigan and lived in numerous locations growing up. He joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and, after flight school, became a UH-1 “Dustoff” helicopter pilot. He flew nearly 900 combat hours in Vietnam, and was chosen to train Vietnamese helicopter pilots. He continued to serve his country faithfully for 20 years. Later in his Army career he transferred to fixed-wing aircraft and often transported VIPs, including Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf. He became one of the best instructor pilots in his field and trained many upcoming Army aviators. While stationed in California he became a part of and air ambulance detachment whose chopper crews would assist in evacuating civilians injured in accidents and needing lifesaving care. He retired from the Army in 1989 and flew commercially with U.S. Airways for 14 years until heart problems grounded him. Being dual-rated in helicopters and fixed-wing, and having considerable jet aircraft time brought him to Hunter Army Airfield and the office of aviation/airfield safety September 2005. He finally retired in December 2019 to enjoy his true passions—fishing, guns, and his dogs.

Gary never met a stranger. He will be fondly remembered by all those who flew and worked with him through the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents-Wayne and Joyce Danhof. Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Terry; sons, Timothy and Todd; daughters, Andrea and Erin Boley; 6 grandchildren; his sisters-Gail Rowland and Sylvia Bartman (Bryan); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, 9184 Ford Ave. Richmond Hill.

In lieu of flowers, Gary would have preferred that you contribute to your favorite charity. Please sign our online guest book at foxandweeks.com.
