News from
Gail Young Newitt My husband and
I have been boaters since 1980 and had a place on the Fox Lake Chain
since 1982. In 1996 we took a vacation with our boat up to the Eagle
River Chain in Wisconsin and fell in love with the area. In 2003 we
bought a house on the river which connects to the 28 lakes on the chain.
It is beautiful here. Any way, January 2006 we both quit our jobs and
moved up here and bought a business. We hope to retire here and in the
coldest months travel down south (the Keys). Gary, I think you
have done an excellent job with this web site. I have not used it in the
past 6 months because of the move, but an alumni came into my store
today and I went to the site to look him up. He was from class of 68,
but I couldn't find him. Keep up the good work. Gail |

Teri White Turner
enjoyed a wonderful vacation last year traveling from Chicago to
California and back, on her Harley! Teri sent along some
pictures from her adventure:

Teri and her friend, Joe, took 3-1/2 weeks and rode over
6,000 miles to and from California in June 2004. Joe on is
2001 Harley Softail Springer, and Teri on her 2002 Harley
Softail Standard. Taking mostly back roads, they stopped to
see friends and family along the way. Leaving Elk Grove,
IL, they first stopped in Peoria to visit her daughter
Jennifer, then headed west on 36/72 to Kansas City to see
some friends. Rode Route 35 to Route 50 west through
Kansas, then into Pueblo and then north to Colorado
Springs. They went to Pike's Peak (no not on the bikes,
took the Cog Train up and down), then south to Taos, New
Mexico for a couple of days. Headed west on 64 through
Farmington, through Shiprock, then to see the Four Corners,
then on to the Grand Canyon South Rim, and then to Kingman,
AZ. That day it was too hot to ride, so they spent a day in
Laughlin doing a little gambling. Next morning early they
headed south to Needles, CA. Rode across the mountains,
through Hemet, then across more mountains to Dana Point
where they stayed with more friends. Spent some time in
Irvine, then south to Oceanside to see more friends, and
then on to Escondido. Back through Oceanside and through
LA. Took Hwy 1 through Big Sur and Monterey, then north on
101, then into Oakland where they stayed with her aunt and
uncle one night. The one picture of Teri with her helmet on
(where it's cloudy and gray) that's San Francisco Bay in the
background. From there they took I-80 to Route 50 and on
through South Lake Tahoe, then to Carson City, headed north
on 395 to Reno for a little more gambling. They then took
I-80 for a while to make some time, through Elko NV, then
through the Utah Salt Flats and then into WY. They got
their motorcycle fluids changed at the Rock Springs, WY,
Harley Davidson, then rode through Riverton, Casper, and
Gillette. Headed north on 59 to I-90 east. Teri rode up to
see Devil's Tower (you remember Close Encounters don't ya?).
The picture of Teri at the Devil's Tower was taken by that
group of riders she just happened to meet up with while
there. They were from Indiana. Teri rode down to Deadwood
where they stayed one night. The next day they rode over to
Sturgis. That was a NICE time of year to go there, cuz it
wasn't all crazy with people yet (the big rally was a month
away in August). So then they headed back I-90 through SD,
then IA, and down along the Mississippi through Dubuque,
Galena, then back to Elk Grove, IL. Awesome way to see our
beautiful country!!

A brief update from Kimberly
Nelson Wilferling.
I have four girls named Stacie Ebel, Jamie Ebel and Jolene
Ebel from my first marriage. Then I have daughter named Tonya
from my second marriage. My oldest daughter lives in Hawthorne
Estate in Illinois with my four grandchildren. Two boys and two
girls. I been been a house wife and worked on and off. Now going
back to college. Live in small town and like the small time
life. Very laid back. No big rush of the suburbs. I remember our
girl gym suits and how ugly they were. |
