Dan Hurley wanted
to share this with everyone..."Hi Everyone, I
may be one of the least remembered, but hope not. I'm doing real well,
considering my shaky beginnings. Some may remember me as the straight A
student in 8th and 9th grade.......but times changed, my Dad moved us
into Evanston where I went to Evanston Township HS.(4,000 students) It
was overwhelming, and so RACIAL. The lines were drawn, and sadly many
student conflicts disrupted my behavior. While still living in
Wheeling, I remember starting to hang with the greasers ( sorry guys, if
I name you), Clark, Dahms, Klechak, Valentino, Bochniak, Sineni,
Seitsinger, Brahm,...well you know the crowd. Somewhere around 7th-8th
grade I had a crush on Bonnie Harer, and we would talk on the phone.
Barbara Lemke was my very first crush though, years earlier (probably
5th grade). We all had our secret crushes , mine were Ellen Drinkwater,
Elain Decarlo, Mindy Bray,...remember guys? But it was Pam Passarella
(Class of 69) who lifted my spirits while in Viet Nam, and I will always
thank her for her letters. I joined the army in 66, went to Nam from
66'-67', 25th infantry co., but in the headquarters group (thank God).
Graduated from Harper Jr. College in 71'.Made the Harper hard-ball
varsity team, but pulled my groin muscle during a practice, finishing my
athletic school career. In 74' I packed up my 69" Vette and headed to
California, to join my sister (Palatine HS, Class of 69').She was a
Playboy bunny in LA, and she introduced me to her friends, and I was in
heaven. I was living hard and fast; the beaches, the
babes....Started my current career with a small growing company, with 10
employees, and now we're 19 locations and 320 employees. I'm a
regional mgr. for a large wholesale distribution business.Married now 25
yrs. so far, w/son 23,&16 yr daughter. Reside in Scottsdale AZ,
and plan on retiring to my other home in Sedona AZ someday. You'll
usually catch me on the golf course every Sunday. I really appreciate
Gary Hedberg's work on this great site, and I hope I hear from many of
my past school mates." |

I've contacted quite a few people and intend to stay in touch. I've heard from Chuck Sineni, Dan Hurley, Judy Konitz, Ted Bandur, Kitty Cunningham and Sharon Vincent to name a few. It's so nice to read that some that were "a couple" back then are still together, they're doing something right! I have great memories of high school and the gang I hung out with, Thanks for putting this site together. Happy Holidays everyone!!!!!" | |

10/25/2002 | Mystery solved! Another yearbook error has been uncovered. In the 68 Senior yearbook the picture at the left is listed as Terry Kohorst. Update from Sharron Vincent Porter. "Nate and I met and married at the UofI (Champaign). We have two (adopted ) children (Justin, 21 and Kylee, 17 ). I worked as an art teacher at WHS. for seven years (1973-79 )and saw a few old classmates while there. We lived in Newtown, Pa. for 9 yrs. and now live in Batavia, Il.. I have been active in art groups and galleries, had some exhibits over the years, and plan to do a lot more artwork when I retire in a few years and we move to Sedona, Az. (we bought land there last year ). You know the cover on the WHS Cats on Call directory with the cat all tangled up in the phone cord; I designed that. I also drew a lot of cartoons for our student newspaper--I had forgotten all about that until I saw that cat on this website... I'm hoping to connect with a lot of old friends, now that things are slowing down around our house and I get a little free time. Give me a holler, I'd love to hear from you. And I'd love to see people again at the next reunion. Best Wishes to all. Sharron Vincent Porter" |

Second daughter, Nicole (ISU '96, UIS '99), is a budget analyst with the Appropriations committee for the Republican Senate staff in Springfield, IL. Third daughter, Bridget is finishing the last year of her elementary ed teaching degree with Western IL University, Moline IL campus and son Randl (the baby at 6-4) is a junior at WIU, Macomb IL, studying graphic arts and advertising. My husband Mark is very active with the Association of IL Soil and Water Conservation Districts, serving as President. He does a good deal of lobbying in Springfield and Washington D.C. for the conservation effort. After being a "stay at home mom" for 20 years, I returned to school and completed a degree in computer programming. I currently develop software for independent telecommunications companies (mostly small service providers) for GenSoft Systems, Inc. in Geneseo, IL. It is a small but growing company. An 'almost alumni' turned up,
Chuck Sineni. Chuck spent 2
years at WHS with the class of 1967. Here is what he offered up to
share with everyone, " Hi everyone,I didn't graduate from WHS but did attend there for 2 years, well sometimes, when I wasn't at the smoking corner, at Bonnie's house down the street, the coffee shop on Dundee Rd or North Ave beach with the gang. yeah those good ole days. LOL. Me, Tom Wickland, Gary Liss "Elf", Greg Botniack and Rick Braham joined the Marine Corp. Were all alive and kicking. When I got out of the service I got married, then divorced, then married, then divorced and gave it one more shot which lasted 22 years so far, 5 wonderful children in all. My fondest memory at WHS, walking down the hallway and passing Elaine DeCarlo wearing Chanel #5, oh God I'd melt in my shoes. I hope everyone is doing fine and in good health. Your Friend, "almost class of 67" Chuck Sineni P.S. My sister Nancy is doing great "class of 66" |
