Here is news from Peggy's household: We have two children, Richard Solsberry 22, finally going back to school part-time, and works full time; and Tyler Bridges 14, a freshman in High School and just made the soccer team. I have changed careers several times, however, I have been at this place of employment, University of Texas at Houston Health Science Center -- said that 10 times real fast, alias UTHHSC, for 11.5 years now. I moved from a secretary to Word Processor support to Amainframe programmer in 8 months, found out I needed to be around people to LAN Manager to Network Suppot to Network Analyst. And I am willing to give all this up -- you know that security and high pay you get from the State -- to go into making Crafts for a living. No, I do not plan on buying my Winnebago YET! I have been in two Craft Shows in my building and realized that there is life beyond a computer monitor. I have left an image with my fellow employees that when they saw what I did in Crafts, they were shocked that I had another "life". One day a friend asked me where I was going to lunch. When I replied, "McDonald's", she said "Nah, I see you at Black Eye Pea -- not McDonald". I told her that with kids, McDonald's along with Taco Bell and Burger King are the gourmet spots to eat at. My husband, Brian, works for Merrill Lynch as a Financial Consultant. I at least know what to do with my State retirement when I leave. He is also licensed in other states besides Texas. (hint-hint). He left a career of a CPA for Doctors and Dentists to pursue his current career....and he loves it!! We have a dog, Brandy, and two cats, Angel and Dodger. We used to have three cats, Casper, but he is now in Cat Heaven. |

And here's the summary of me: My life has three kids: Lauren, 17, (already an ex-NASA/SETI employee), Chris, 14 (my little boy turned into a 6-foot tall near-saint), and Alexis, 11 (who will someday own this country and make deep improvements), all considerably smarter and nicer than I am. My wife for 21 years is an ex-pro-ballerina, now a gifted ballet teacher, an ex-Texan, my guru, always a woman of stunning kindness, wisdom and fun, heart-warming beauty, and way too much patience. She doesn't seem to understand that her physical form should age, and has therefore ignored that pressure. This frightens all of us. Education was Northwestern for psychoneurolgy (they'd call my training 'cognitive science' today). That preparation I spent on a brief career in a money-free fusion band and weird club gigs. Then computers lifted me to programming, then video game sound (where my psych interest has thriven mightily), then Apple System Software, then video games again. We moved to California 10 years ago on Apple's tab, bought a house in the Santa Cruz Mountains complete with a hundred redwoods and a hidden waterfall. There I sit right now, typing away on a screen bearing windows of a book I've been writing for way too many years, code from two projects, a couple of net downloads going, a sound editor loaded with mountain bike sounds, and your priceless pictures of the 25th reunion.
For 17 years now I've done nothing but interactive audio, mostly making sounds and music for games: arcade, pinball, and almost every significant home system. This involves music composition, sound effects design/control, and programming whatever piece of silicon in whatever language the game needs. I've shipped 76 original games, which included over 12,000 sound effects and 350 tunes. My games you may have heard of: Rampage, Xenophobe, Madden Football (6 of them), Road Rash, F22, Jordan/Byrd,... . All through this I was a very corporate hippie: the long-hair that reported to VPs only, sat in on the high-level technical strategy discussions, and ranted in the lowest level hallway rants(the latter being the meetings that actually produced the products). My companies have been Bally/Midway, Apple, Electronic Arts and Acclaim. I'm now with a startup in Santa Cruz, Osiris Studios, setting up 2 to 10 more games to work on. I don't really enjoy playing the damned things. Never have. |

I just wanted to use Jason's list!] LOYOLA MEN"S VOLLEYBALL received FANTASTIC full-page coverage today in the Sports section, page 100, pictures included!!! Thank you, reporter Carol Slezak. Now there's a friend!!!!! This coverage is FANTASTIC not only for Loyola, but for Midwest Men's Volleyball in general. Can you believe: a WHOLE page!!!!! ????? Let's see, for all the people who have kids in volleyball, there's not a lot that make it to the collegiate level. BUT you can bet that those of us who are struggling upstream to make the world aware of the great talent in the Midwest sure do talk about it at our places of work . . . there's a lot of PR going out catalyzed by Men's Volleyball action.
