This news from Laurie Bain Rosenfield:
Biggest Life Changing Event: Became a Baha'i in
1970. I am VERY actively involved in teaching children's classes
and facilitating a variety of spiritual education classes for
adults and youth. Best Decision I ever made.
Next Best
Decision: Married in 1971 & Still VERY Happily Married! Ben (M.S.Ed,
M.Ed, Ph.D) - retired educator Now a professional storyteller and
potter - check out TheFrogGuy.com.
And of course, kids
change our lives forever. First Child, Michael, Born & Died in
1978 Next Child, Justin - Artist (painter & potter)who lives in
southern Illinois (born 1983) Last Child, Daniel - Actor, majoring
in stage managment and lighting at Millikin Univ. (born 1988)
And me, myself - I graduated from Columbia College of Missouri
in 1995 (with a 4.0 GPA :-), and from DePaul University in 1999 -
MA in Writing. Have taught English Comp. at McHenry County College
since 1998, with a couple of years off. When I'm not there, I'm
either writing my mystery novel (published in 3 books, so far) or
working in my fiber studio (batik, spinning, etc.) or in my paper
arts studio. I used to make pottery with Ben, but now focus on
other arts. I still write poetry like I did in high school, and
have given many workshops on it. And I read about 150 books a
year.
My most recent altruistic endeavor has been the
establishment of an inter-faith activity group for elementary
children called "The Practice of Peace."
Gary - I know that
this is mostly boring statistics, but that's all I have energy for
this evening. I don't think I have any funny WHS stories that are
printable...

Dina Vasil Tanner sent
along these pictures of her husband Mike's 60th birthday celebration:
Mike had a 60th BD party to remember. His sisters came
from Delaware and Arizona, and our kids and grandkids made him
so happy too! Stan and Pam had the party at their home, and we
all brought something to share on the food front. Our friend,
Joan Shelley’s “card” was a cake personally delivered to us. I
just can’t tell you all how much all the cards and little notes
meant to Mike. I will always be grateful to you for your love
and friendship! Mike’s second family, the Byrne family has 12
kids… we got cards from just about all of them. (Patti, will
you send this to everyone, because we may not have everyone on
this email). My Thea Bess wins the award for most cards sent at
least 6! She wanted to be sure he got at least 60. We received
about 70 cards in all. Our next big adventure is a trip to the
Big Island of Hawaii at the end of March. Mike has always wanted
to see the Volcano National Park… so off we’ll go. He continues
to do pretty good, considering all he’s been through- he walks
with a cane for short distances, and uses a wheelchair sometimes
too. He enjoys each day, and lives in the present. I love him
so much, and am happy that you all do too! |
Mike is singing along with us. |
