Rick and I have been married 32 years and
this coming May 13th will make it 33 years! We have two
children, our son, Todd (age 28, soon to be 29 on January 21st)
is an attorney and due to law school debts is still living at
home. Our daughter, Dana (age 26) is living and working in
Evanston, IL and doing well. We have three German Shepherds:
Sasha, Gunther, and Wrigley, and they definitely require us to
exercise them, thereby, exercising ourselves! |

Sally Ryan / Staff photographer
Ric Sisi with Suburban Accents in Rolling Meadows
applies newly designed decals to a Naperville police
car. The department is unveiling five new squad cars
with updated designs &151; the first change since
1998.

Mod squad
Naperville police cars sport spiffy new decals
staff writer
Look! There in the street. Is it a taxi? Another
roving tourist trolley? A DeLorean that can travel
through time?
No, it's a Naperville police car. But
residents will notice a change in its appearance
beginning this week.
The Police Department's five new 2005 Ford Crown
Victoria squad cars will be sporting different designs
than their older counterparts, said Sgt. Vince Gortner,
traffic division supervisor. The last time the
department changed its squad car design was 1998, when
it outfitted its cars with a decal pattern of
black-and-blue stripes with blue-and-black script
identifying the cars as "Naperville Police" vehicles.
The new decal pattern uses similarly colored blue and
black stripes, which now cover the entire top half of
the car and wrap over the trunk and around the back,
Gortner said. The police lettering is in white in the
middle of the stripes.
The design is in contrast to neighboring communities,
where some cars feature overly complicated graphics and
lettering that is so ornate it can be difficult to read,
Gortner said. Naperville polled officers before settling
on a simpler, bolder design, he said.
"Squad cars are important; they're the most visible
representation of the Naperville Police Department in
the community," he said. "Other than the police station,
people associate the image of the department with the
cars. We want them to look sharp. We want them to be
immediately recognizable as police cars."
The department won't outfit its whole fleet of more
than 70 vehicles, Gortner said. Most traffic enforcement
cars are unmarked, and supervisors, detectives and
police Chief David Dial drive different vehicles.
Eventually, the department's fleet of around 30 squad
cars will all feature the same design, he said, but
decals will only be applied to new cars when an old
vehicle is due for replacement.
Squad cars are typically replaced after 90,000 miles,
Gortner said, which is about a three-year life span in
police service. This year, the department will receive
only the five new cars, he said, but next year could be
due for around 12 new squad vehicles.
Gortner has driven each new, white squad car to a
garage in Rolling Meadows over the last several days.
Once decals are applied to one, he drops another one
off. The cost is about $450 per car for materials and
labor, he said. The price was deemed the best value from
among competitive bids which ranged from around $300 to
$700 per vehicle, he said.
At least one aspect of the decal design will be
familiar — and hopefully as effective. The new decals
will retain a reflective film that makes cars more
visible at night and when cars are in traffic. |

the last few days I've done extensive searches for the 62 missing male
members of our class. Don't feel slighted ladies, the men are easier to

Website
Updates |
There have been a lot of recent additions to
the website. I want to thank all those alumni who allowed me to borrow
their originals so I could share them with all of us. I have added
several sections under each class.
One is for each years school calendar. Remember those great calendar
girl pictures??? So far just the '66-'67 calendar is available
On Stage is for pictures and programs from stage performances, plays,
musicals, orchesis, etc. If you're looking for a particular performance
you'll may need to check all the years to find the right one.
Another is Commencement Memories which will include the Commencement
Program for each year. So far I only have the programs for the class of
'68 and '69.
Another section is the Senior Spokesman which will be copies of each
classes senior edition of the spokesman. So far the Senior
Spokesman for '69 and '70 are available.
The class of 1972's 20th reunion (1992)
books is now available.
I've also added a section for the high school bands, but I don't have
them linked from the main page yet. The direct link to these pictures is
http://www.whs69.com/band/index.html.
If you have any materials, programs, newspaper articles, personal
pictures you took, or any other memorabilia that you'd like to
contribute and share with all the alumni please contact me. The more
stuff that's offered here the better the memories. Thanks!

Gloria Wuich
Chandler has really made a dramatic move:
It appears that I have
left my home in Florida at a very opportune time, avoiding all
the hurricanes that have hit Fort Pierce where I had lived for
the past 22 years. Left Florida the first week in August to
start a new teaching job in Shanghai, China. I am teaching high
school English (Grades 9, 10, and AP-12) at Concordia
International School Shanghai. My new address, phone number, and
email follow. Unfortunately, my friends and colleagues pack in
Fort Pierce have not been as fortunate. It may take months
before life is back to normal. However, I am enjoying China and
looking forward to visits from many friends and family members
as I have signed a three-year contract to teach here. Hope to
hear from you soon. Don't know when I'll make it back to the
states for a WHS Homecoming - but maybe one day. Take care and
hello to all back in the states. |

Note |
I'm in
the process of going through every name on the missing list from every
class (1,349) and checking it against the 2001 WHS Alumni Directory, and
then checking to see if the missing person may have had any siblings
that went to WHS, or Hersey, or BGHS. I've decided to just make all the
phone calls myself. Trying to coax others to do the calling is a lesson
in personal head bashing :-) Unfortunately more and more of us are
passing away and my opportunity to take advantage of sibling-alumni is
going to become less and less useful the longer I wait to do this. So
I'm just going to bite the bullet and do it myself. I'm already up to
the "B"'s :-) |

Rick Sisi
spent his holiday weekend at the
50th anniversary
of the NHRA at Indy
Greetings---friends,
This weekend was the 50th anniversary of the NHRA. We were
lucky enough to be involved with a 'NEW KID ON THE BLOCK,"
T.J. Zizzo. We are an associate sponsor for this new and
very exciting team. They have only run a few races this year
in TOP FUEL, but were right there with the BIG boys in Indy
this weekend. T.J. consistently turned 4.7 second runs at
speeds of over 311mph in the quarter mile. I took the family
down to Indianapolis for this event, and I am pretty sure
they had a GAS! If you have never been to a NHRA Top Fuel
race, take the time to get to one. You will have the thrill
of a lifetime. You can read more on this weekends event at
http://www.nhra.com/ if interested. I have attached some
pictures from this weekend as well. In case you have

Many thanks to our classmate Ed Haase! Ed took
on the challenge of contacting all our classmates that still live in the
847 area code, about 150 of them, that I didn't have e-mail addresses
for. Ed did a superlative job.
Ed's work resulted
in 19 additional e-mail addresses. It was also amazing that there were
36 classmates he was able to contact that had NO e-mail address! What's
even more amazing is that 43 of the alumni Ed called either didn't have
answering machines or refused to return his call. Now for the bad
news...16 of our classmates have moved and the addresses I had in the
database are no longer valid so these classmates are now on the missing
list. I was able to quickly locate one of them however. Here are the
new members of the missing list:

Update from Lynn
Cripe Luoma & Lane
Luoma...yep, still married after all these years!!!
Lane is still pedaling
golf clubs for Cleveland Golf. We sold the golf course (YIPPEE!)
and also our other wholesale golf business. I am still teaching
kindergarten, they keep me in check and very tired! Our oldest
son Kevin got married in October and is living in Seattle. Our
second son Kyle is repping for Cleveland Golf in southern
Indiana. He's a clone of Lane and wants to be just like his dad,
for whatever reason! He is getting married in Sept. Our baby
Kimmie just graduated from I.U. and took a job in Chicago, she
will be living in Lombard and working at Oakbrook. We just made
our LAST tuition payment and are adjusting to being full blown
empty nesters!! That didn't take us long at all! |
Lynn
also offered some updated information on Rich Schachner... |
Rick
Schachner's wife was here to visit on Memorial Day. They just
sold their house in Ohio and are building a house in St. Louis.
Rick is a general partner with Edward Jones and doing very well.
Their oldest son Jason is an attorney in Chicago and working on
taking a job with the Secret Service. Their second son Justin
just graduated from Miami University in Ohio and has taken a job
with the C.I.A. in D.C. Baby Josh is a sophomore at Ohio State,
I think he may be majoring in partying or something like that! |

Hi Gary --In response to the reunion -- as of
right now I won't be able to attend. We'll be in Florida that
weekend visiting friends. If the date should change I would
probably try to attend. Hope all is going well with you and
your family. Heather had a baby boy on September 7. I'm really

fine -- George still works for the village of Elk Grove, I'm
still in special ed., Stan Jr. is now a full fledged member of

but will possibly resume her teaching career at some point and
her husband Ross is an assistant principal. I saw Mary Allen

Well we have one less unaccounted for person in our
class. No, no one died! This one had always been a mystery to
me because no one knew of Alexander Kyle. No one remembered
him from any of our 4 years at school. Well tonight I solved the
mystery. It seems Alexander "Sandy" Kyle went to Arlington High
School from 1960 through 1964. He went into the Navy right after
what his siblings (WHS Grads Linda
Kyle '68, John
Kyle '72, and Jim Kyle '72) thought he had graduated.
Well apparently he hadn't, as Linda recently found out. Alexander
got his GED 4 years later when he got out of the navy and his GED was
issued by WHS so by Wheeling High School's records he graduated from
Wheeling. So our graduating class official records are decreased
by 1. Total of 752 until otherwise revised at a later date :-) |

I'm sorry to have to pass along this sad
information. Janet Johnson Trsar '69 passed away this
morning after losing her battle with breast cancer. Janet's
husband Dale Trsar is a class of 1967 grad. Janet is one
of 8 siblings. Her twin brother Jim Johnson also graduated
with the class of '69. Younger brother Marty Johnson spent
2 years at Wheeling and then went to Hersey for his last 2
years when the schools split. Marty is married to Denise
Rozzano '71 All the other younger siblings graduated from
Hersey.
I spoke with Jim a few minutes ago. He
told me that there will be a gathering this coming Saturday,
March 27th, at the Evangelical Free Church of Arlington
Heights from 9-11am with funeral services to follow
immediately.
The family has asked that flowers not be
sent but that donations be made in Jan's name to the Susan
G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Donations can be
made by clicking on the logo below:
I hope
many of you can make the services.
|
The following is an e-mail received from Carol Johnson Tyree,
Jan's younger sister: |
Subject: This is in the
memory if my sister Jan Trsar who passed on March 24, 2004 and
my mother Gen Gaertner passed Jan. 26, 1993 Dear Friends and
Family,
Did you know that every three minutes, another woman in the
United States is diagnosed with breast cancer? I didn't, and I
was shocked to learn how prevalent this horrible disease has
become in this country. So shocked, in fact that I've committed
to doing something about it, and I'm writing to ask for your
help.
On June 5-6, 2004, I'll spend the weekend walking, along with
thousands of other people, in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I
will walk at least the distance of a marathon (26.2 miles), and
I may choose to walk as far as a marathon and a half. Either
way, it's a very long walk. I'll have to spend the next few
months training, fundraising, and preparing for the event. It's
the biggest challenge I've ever taken on, but I'm very excited
about doing it because I know it will make a real difference to
the millions of people affected by breast cancer.
The money raised goes to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer
Crusade, a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to provide
access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer. They
provide funding to organizations all over the country for
medical research, education and early detection programs, and
clinical care and support services, all with a focus on the
medically underserved.
I'm required to raise at least $1,800 to participate, but I'm
setting my goal even higher, and I plan to raise as much money
as I can.
Please help to support me and the breast cancer cause by making
a generous contribution to my efforts. You can make your
donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of
this message, which will bring you right to my personal page.
Please remember as you're making your donation that in less than
the time it took to read this e-mail, another woman in the U.S.
was diagnosed with breast cancer.
You can also help me by passing this message along to others who
may be interested in being a part of the Avon Walk for Breast
Cancer.
Thank you for your support and or prayers.
Sincerely,
Carol Tyree

family are doing well. His daughters are in the 20's now.
Joe spent many years working on Wall Street for Morgan-Stanley.
For the last 7 years though he's been a commercial pilot. He has
worked for ATA Airlines and is now working for Priester out at Palwaukee
Airport. |

Today I met with '66 Alumni Ed Bangs at
his home on the NE side of Tucson. Ed was having a little
computer trouble so 7 hours later we got it all figured out and
working. Got to share a lot of great stories about the
last 35 years.

Barb
Olesky Amos is the first missing classmate found for 2004.
Barb had moved from Schaumburg to Streamwood a couple years ago and also
had changed e-mail addresses so she had been put on the missing list.
Thankfully, through finding and contacting her younger brother Jack Olesky
'72 I was able to locate Barb.
