We have lost another classmate. Marsha Jeanne Johnson passed away
November 30th, 2019. I only discovered her passing today. I
had chatted with her via private message on 11/20/2019 when she informed
me she was in hospice. I sent her several messages over the last 2
weeks with no response. I found that she'd passed away by posts on her
facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/marsha.johnson.35912). Here
is her obituary from the Belvidere, IL news paper: Marsha Jeanne
Johnson, 68, of Belvidere, IL passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 at
Maple Crest Care Centre. She was born November 20, 1951 in Chicago, IL.
The daughter of the late Marshall and Genevieve (Domek) Johnson. She
worked for America United Bank in Schaumburg, IL. She is loved and will be
missed by her sisters, Carole (Roy) McCluskey, and Jackie (Ronald) Jensen;
brother in law, Robert Simmons; nieces and nephews, Sue (ch: Luke, Ethan,
Raven), Pati (ch: Lane, Maddi), Robert (ch: Ian, Paul), Michelle (Tim, ch:
Morgan, Craig, Jacob), Becki (ch: Thomas, Joel, John), Tracy (Jim, ch:
Carter, Brianna, Emma), Tammy, Tim (Sara), and Ron (ch: Evie, Analeigh).
She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Gerri Simmons. There
will be a visitation Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00
P.M. at the Belvidere Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Belvidere, IL. A
memorial service will begin at 1:00 P.M. Condolences may be shared with
the family at
www.belviderefh.com. In lieu of flowers the family asked that
donations be made in her name to St Jude’s Children Hospital.

Very sad news, especially so close to our 50th
reunion. I've been informed that our classmate,
Arlene Brzuszkiewicz Melson passed away yesterday from a rare muscle
disease. Arlene has two younger brothers Eugene '72 and Michael ‘75.
Arlene's husband Jim ran a fertilizer chemical plant in Muscatine, IA and
passed away a couple of years ago from the same rare muscle disease.
Arlene went to Iowa State. That's where she met her husband Jim. Arlene
had three kids Christopher, Stephanie and Katy, and three beautiful
granddaughters. Arlene was a PE teacher for the Muscatine school district
until she became a stay at home mom. I have no further information about any funeral
arrangements or services.

I found out today that Frank Earl Bator '69, the brother of Cathy
Bator Braun '69, passed away on June 27, 2010. There was not much in
the way of an obituary. No mention of his military service. No mention
of a wife or children or other relatives.
FRANK E. BATOR, 59 ROCKFORD - Frank E. Bator died Sunday, June 27,
2010. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, at the Kingdom Hall
of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1905 S. Mulford Road, Rockford. In lieu of
flowers, memorials can be made to the
family.

As part of researching
for the WHS class of 1969's 50th reunion, it was discovered that Richard
Strombom '69 passed away 07/05/2012. Richard has a younger sister, Nancy
who graduated from WHS in 1970. I was unable to find an obituary for
Richard in the Daily Herald archives or at Ancestry.com. Rest in Peace Richard. |

Sorry to say we've lost another class of 1969 alumni. Paul Carl
Wilferling. Paul didn't graduate with the class of 1969 but was at WHS
through Junior year. He was married to and divorced from Kim Kimberley

Another classmate has been discovered to be deceased as part of doing
searches for our 50th reunion. Bradley Ray Fagala passed away
02/04/2014 after battling cancer. This was reported to me by his
son. Brad's twin brother Barry graduated from Hersey High School in
1970. Barry is 'still kicking' according to Brad's son. Brad
and Barry also have an older brother Bruce who graduated from WHS in 1967.
Brad's son said there was no obituary posted. Rest in Peace Brad. |

While doing searches on Facebook for our classmates, Cliff Hoffman
discovered that our classmate Patricia Lyvers Waeckler according to her
Facebook page passed away. No date that Pat died was listed.
I could not find an obituary in the Daily Herald, but it was
probably sometime in 2016 based on the last entry on her Facebook page:

I found a link to her husband, Steve’s Facebook page and left him a
private message asking for details.
